Atlanta, Georgia | Whole Home Remodel
Originally built in the 1920s, this Atlanta home offered the character and proportions of an earlier era, but its interiors needed to be reconsidered for the way the home is lived in today. Our approach was not to recreate the past, but to introduce a new architectural language that feels contemporary while remaining comfortable within the home’s history.
The kitchen became a defining element of that transformation. Custom cabinetry in quarter-sawn white oak brings warmth and texture to the space, with the distinctive grain of the oak providing a quieter counterpoint to the strong architectural forms. Overscaled black hardware, sculptural lighting and a dramatic range hood introduce contrast, while expanses of softly veined natural stone give the room a sense of permanence.
Arched openings were used to soften transitions and reinforce the home’s architectural character, creating framed views from one space to the next. Rather than treating the kitchen as a collection of individual cabinets and appliances, the cabinetry was designed as architecture—tall, integrated compositions that give the room scale while keeping the overall palette restrained.
The adjoining bath continues the same material story. Quarter-sawn white oak, stone and warm metal finishes are carried into a more intimate setting, where a floating vanity and integrated stone sinks create a clean, monolithic composition.
Throughout the project, the palette was intentionally limited: white oak, natural stone, warm plaster-toned walls, blackened accents and brass. The restraint allows the materials, proportions and craftsmanship to become the focus.
The result is a home that feels distinctly new without losing its connection to its 1920s origins—a renovation built around the idea that old and new don’t have to compete. They can make each other better.
